Icepick scars are the most stubborn acne scars — and, frustratingly, the ones most treatments quietly skip. If you've been researching Curejet in Korea, you've probably noticed something odd: plenty of mentions from Seoul clinics, almost nothing from clinics back home. This article explains what Curejet is, why it suits icepick scars where other tools physically can't go, and — because I'd rather over-inform than over-sell — what it can't do alone.
The icepick problem
An icepick scar is a narrow, deep pit — often a millimeter or two wide at the surface, tapering down like, well, an icepick wound. The geometry is the whole problem:
Lasers work on the surface and walls, but an icepick's depth-to-width ratio means resurfacing the top does little for the shaft.
Subcision needles are wider than the scar itself — you can't release a 1mm scar with a tool that makes a bigger opening than the scar.
Topicals don't reach the base at all.

What Curejet actually is
Curejet is a needle-free jet injector: it uses a precisely controlled micro-jet to deliver treatment agents through the skin at a chosen depth — no needle, no incision. The jet is narrower than any practical needle, which is precisely what icepick geometry demands.
Two things happen at once when we treat a scar with it:
Mechanical stimulation. The micro-jet disrupts the compacted fibrotic tissue at the scar base — a micro-scale version of what subcision does for larger scars. The tissue is loosened and the healing cascade is switched on.
Delivery. The same jet carries regenerative agents — collagen-stimulating boosters like Juvelook, or hADM scaffold material — directly to where the rebuilding needs to happen: the base of the scar, not the surface.

Afterward, expect small red dots at each treated point for a few days, sometimes with pinpoint crusts — each treated scar marks itself briefly. Most patients are presentable with light makeup the next day. Compared to a fractional CO2 session, the downtime is milder and more localized.
Why is Curejet so hard to find outside Korea?
Partly regulatory timing, partly market structure. Korea's aesthetic dermatology market is unusually dense and competitive, so new delivery technologies get adopted, refined, and protocol-ized here years before they spread. Jet-injection platforms have been part of Korean scar practice long enough that clinics here have developed depth settings and agent combinations specifically for scar work — the device is only half the treatment; the protocol is the other half.
I say this without chest-thumping: it's simply one of the few genuine "you can get this in Seoul and probably not at home" items in scar treatment, which is why international patients ask about it by name.
The honest limits: Curejet is a specialist, not a soloist
Now the part a marketing page wouldn't include.
Curejet is our tool of choice for narrow, deep scars — and almost nobody has only narrow, deep scars. Most scarred faces carry a mix: rolling scars that need subcision, boxcars that need laser remodeling of hardened walls, icepicks that need Curejet, and often some redness or pigmentation on top. Treating only the icepicks improves the icepicks and leaves the landscape.
So in a real treatment plan, Curejet is one instrument in a combination session — working alongside subcision and fractional laser, not replacing them. And like all regenerative treatment, it builds over a course: the collagen response to each session accumulates over weeks to months. One session starts the process; it rarely finishes it.
If a clinic anywhere offers Curejet as a complete standalone cure for acne scarring, that's a red flag — not against the device, but against the plan.

Is Curejet better than TCA CROSS for icepick scars? They're the two main rivals for this scar type. TCA CROSS uses concentrated acid and can work, but it's difficult to reverse when it goes wrong.
